Ocean Oneness
Silence is round me, wideness ineffable;
White birds on the ocean diving and wandering;
A soundless sea on a voiceless heaven,
Azure on azure, is mutely gazing.
Identified with silence and boundlessness
My spirit widens clasping the universe
Till all that seemed becomes the Real,
One in a mighty and single vastness.
Someone broods there nameless and bodiless,
Conscious and lonely, deathless and infinite,
And, sole in a still eternal rapture,
Gathers all things to his heart for ever.

Il silenzio è intorno a me, vastità infinita;
Bianchi uccelli vagano e si tuffano nell’oceano;
Un mare senza suoni su un paradiso silente,
Azzurro su azzurro, fissa lo sguardo silenzioso.
Identificato con il silenzio e senza confini
Il mio spirito si espande abbracciando l’universo
Fino a che tutto ciò che sembrava diviene Reale,
Uno in una possente e singola vastità.
Qualcuno medita là senza nome e incorporeo,
Cosciente e solo, immortale e infinito,
E, solo in un’estasi immobile ed eterna,
Raccoglie tutte le cose nel suo cuore per sempre.
